At Brookwood School, we believe that a strong academic curriculum and dedicated faculty, complemented by innovative technology, prepare students to be leaders and lifelong learners in our rapidly evolving world. Technology is critical in providing an exceptional college-preparatory educational experience to our students. The culture of Brookwood allows for our community to be responsive and flexible to adapt to new learning environments that emerge. We continue to explore new innovations and possibilities, while carefully and thoughtfully evaluating technology and tools to ensure they will enhance our student and teaching experiences in all grade levels. We remain steadfast in developing the whole child: academically, physically, spiritually, and socially.
At Brookwood School, collaborative learning is a cornerstone. All Brookwood students continue to make use of technology to engage in personal learning experiences that develop creativity, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills. From student-led collaborations with local municipalities and teachers supporting student-created novel research ideas to students publicly presenting their newly-gained knowledge, technology at Brookwood is utilized by faculty and students to create new ways to show understanding. Our faculty uses their abundance of technology to strategically design unique learning experiences.
From a young age, students at Brookwood gain experience using technology as a tool to research, present ideas, and communicate with others. By the time students reach Middle School, they have the foundation to create and share videos through Apple’s Everyone Can Create curriculum. Upper School students are further challenged to apply their skills through research, AP classes, and jumpstart their professional development.
Classrooms and common areas are equipped with Apple TVs, allowing students to share ideas with their peers. Our 1:1 technology program ensures that students have the opportunity to be in charge of their own learning and leadership, whether in the traditional classroom, in one of our four outdoor classrooms, or at home. Additionally, faculty utilizes MyBrookwood, an online learning platform where students can collaborate and are immersed in a technology-rich culture.
Brookwood’s investment into students’ social and academic growth includes our integration of technology into strategic aspects of the student experience. Brookwood has ensured that all students and faculty have access to devices that connect and engage them across all divisions. In its commitment to ensuring technological proficiency among faculty and students, Brookwood emphasizes professional development plans and classroom instruction to boost technology’s usefulness in our community. We believe technology should be used as a tool, rather than a replacement for teachers; our teachers have integrated technology into countless activities that quantitatively enhanced student performance and success. Students report that classroom use of technology has positively impacted their education, and teachers cite improved comprehension of course concepts due to technology-supplemented lessons.
Apple technology will remain essential in order to create meaningful collaborative learning connections. In March 2022, we launched a new Global Studies curriculum in seven grades. We are poised to foster mission-congruent learning opportunities, internships, and extended classrooms with partnerships from around the world. Brookwood continues to extend our reach by leveraging partnerships that have already been established in Haiti through donations of Apple devices that have been removed from our inventory. We hope to expand this program by similarly supporting a school in Uganda. Through these partnerships, Brookwood School aspires to expand our school footprint by building relationships between students of different backgrounds and cultures.
Located in Thomasville, GA, Brookwood School is a private school for grades JK-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
