Brookwood’s Footloose takes center stage in spectacular display of dance and entertainment
Get ready to kick off your Sunday shoes and dance the night away with Brookwood School’s electrifying production of Footloose!
Join us for a high-energy performance that tells the story of a town where dancing is forbidden and a courageous young man who challenges the status quo. Packed with iconic songs and thrilling dance numbers, Footloose is a musical experience you won't want to miss.
Ren McCormick, played by senior Isaac Nunnally, is witty and laid back. “Being able to play Ren has been a dream come true coming from a background of dance,” says Nunnally. “It has been so much fun to be able to reopen that part of my life again.”
Nunnally notes the similarities between himself and Ren: “I often find myself not having to act much to be able to fit his personality.”
The production consists of several groups and ensembles spanning all school divisions. From Ariel’s Crew to Betty’s Besties, the involvement of students from different age levels creates a collaborative and inclusive environment, providing opportunities for mentorship and shared learning experiences. It fosters a sense of community within the school and showcases the talents of students across various grades.
According to senior Ellie Godwin, Footloose stands out as a must-see, being one of the most remarkable productions the school has ever presented. “The life lessons and humor it holds are great for all ages,” she says. “It serves as the perfect close to my performing arts career at Brookwood. The dancing, singing, acting, and stage set-up are all so impressive.”
Among others, bringing the fun to the stage is Director Mr. Jimmy Kontos and Guest Choreographer Ms. Tara Lynn Steele.
Ms. Steele, a professional performer and dance instructor from New York, aids young performers in transforming the stage into a scene reminiscent of Footloose, capturing the essence of the film's lively and rebellious spirit.
Brookwood’s production of Footloose will take place at the Thomasville Municipal Auditorium on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, both at 8:00 p.m. There will also be a Sunday, February 4 matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available now and can be purchased using the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/o/brookwood-school-37582971033
