Brookwood alum Cooper helps lead UMW tennis team to Division III national tournament

Brookwood School graduate Rachel Cooper recently helped the University of Mary Washington women’s tennis team to its 16th consecutive Capital Athletic Conference title. They defeated Christopher Newport in the championship, with Cooper taking a 6-0, 6-1 decision in singles play.
The Lady Eagles advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament after defeating Franciscan University in the first round. Cooper clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-0 score in singles play.
UMW ended their year 21-5 as a team, falling in the second round to Johns Hopkins. Cooper was named the CAC Rookie of the Year last season as a freshman and continued her strong play this year as a sophomore.
