Warriors Finish Strong with 1st Place Win for Boys Cross-Country Team

Brookwood School’s cross-country teams began the season with brilliant gusto. The Varsity Boys finished first place out of the 12 competing teams at the Sherwood Around the Cross Invitational in Albany last Saturday, Aug. 17th.
Head Coach Alex Papanicolopoulos had this to say about the phenomenal start to the season, “The Brookwood Cross-Country Team ran with great intensity, perseverance, and mental toughness at the meet. Every athlete on this team lived up to our motto ‘finish strong’ and we could not be more proud of their all-around performance.”
Coaches Papanicolopoulos and Stalvey were impressed with the notable standouts of Wesley Warren ‘27 and Kent Grayson ‘25 leading the boys team, placing 2nd and 4th, respectively, along with the other runners on the first place team: Will Kadel ‘25, James Mizell ‘26, Mason Brunson ‘26, Matthew Lauderdale ‘25, Owen Bodell ‘25, and Beau Posey ‘28.
Abby Stalvey ‘25 led the girls team, placing 18th out of 106.
Brookwood will compete again Saturday, Aug. 31st, at Thomas County Central High School at the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
