The Brookwood girls basketball team celebrated their seniors with a 16-point victory over Deerfield-Windsor, followed by an impressive 52-45 win over Tiftarea. “One of the big things we’ve been trying to preach to the girls is taking ownership and accountability,” said Brookwood head coach Nik Schweikert. “I think they did a really good job of that in the last two games we played at home, just playing with high energy and good effort to make sure they demonstrate the fact that they are holding themselves accountable for the standards on the floor.” The Lady Warriors were led by senior Ainsley Jacobson, who dropped 15 on the Lady Knights on 42% shooting from the field. Jacobson secured a double-double on the night with 12 rebounds and also led the Lady Warriors with six assists and three steals. Several other seniors contributed to the Lady Warriors victory. Morgan Boggs and Carriyona Williams each finished with seven points, Abigail Squires had four, and Emma Rhodes finished with three. Boggs also finished with four assists. “The first things they’ve done has been consistently show up,” Schweikert said about his seniors. “They’ve been at everything starting in the summer, and I think that’s always step one is you have to show up. They’ve shown up in tough times, but they’ve also shown up in the big moments, but also just the idea of giving their best effort in everything that they do. Those girls have done it on and off the floor in all the aspects of their life.” Brookwood followed up their winning performance with a second straight win on Senior night over Tiftarea. The Lady Warriors, led by Boggs, defeated the Lady Panthers 52-45. Boggs and Rhodes combined for 13 points, while Jacobson led Brookwood with four rebounds. The pair of wins sends the Lady Warriors into their final game of the season at 16-8 with a 6-2 region record. That 6-2 is good for second in the region behind 8-0 Terrell Academy.
