Brookwood School's Student Government Association (SGA) has kicked off the year with great enthusiasm, setting the tone for a year of leadership, service, and community building.
The SGA has established a mission statement that reflects their commitment to fostering a strong community: "Brookwood’s Student Government Association strives to grow a strong community through leadership, service, and creativity in collaboration with the student body, faculty, and Brookwood families." Their motto, "Lead, Unite, Inspire, Serve," underscores their dedication to these values.
To start the year, the SGA hosted a retreat at Myrtlewood Plantation, where students engaged in team-building exercises and leadership activities. During the retreat, students created skits to announce the Homecoming and Warrior Chief courts, which they proudly presented at the Upper School assembly this Tuesday.
This year’s Homecoming court includes Lynleigh Moore ‘28, Haylee Burkes ‘27, Brylee Bates ‘26, Caroline Stewart ‘25, Kate von Hellens ‘25, Rylee Knight ‘25, Avery Kate Lee ‘25, and Sophia Lee ‘25.
Representing the Warrior Chief court are Clark Carter ‘25, Shep Davis ‘25, Will Kadel ‘25, John Roesel ‘25, and JD Culbreth ‘25.
These students were selected to embody the spirit and tradition of Brookwood.
The SGA is particularly focused on serving the school and the wider community, with plans to sponsor class-led service projects throughout the year. The retreat provided an excellent foundation for what promises to be an exciting and impactful school year.
