Softball Recap: Westwood Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Westwood entered their match against Brookwood on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Westwood Wildcats took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brookwood Warriors. It was the first time this season that the Wildcats let down their fans at home.

Bentley Palmer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Mattie Gray was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Stewart, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Westwood's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3. As for Brookwood, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will welcome Terrell Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Terrell Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Brookwood, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Brooks County at 4:30 p.m.
