THOMASVILLE - The Brookwood Warriors and Thomasville Bulldogs met on the pitch on Tuesday, with the Lady Bulldogs taking a 2-0 shut out victory and the Warriors snagging a 6-2 win in the boys game.

With a 2-0 in over Brookwood, the Lady Bulldogs earned their third shut out win of the year and their fifth in six games. The first two came earlier in the season with a 10-0 win over Valdosta and a 5-0 win over Cairo.

“We played well. We could have made it a few more (goals),” said Thomasville head girls coach Lucas Kimmel. “We had more chances and we have to continue to take advantage of those chances, especially when it comes to tougher games, but it was very important that we got the shut out last night.”

The Lady Bulldogs’ first goal of the night was scored by Kyley Peterson and the second was scored by Maeva Henderson.

For the boys, Thomasville took an early 1-0 lead. Brookwood’s Harrison Chapura tied the game at 1-1 before a miscue in the box led to another Thomasville goal. However, the Bulldogs 2-1 lead would not last as the Warriors took over the game. Carter Bryan and Kenji Sun were able to put the ball in the back of the net, but it was Chapura who stole the show with four goals to his credit.

“He could have scored probably six,” said Brookwood head coach Jack Chambers about Chapura. “He’s our guy that we look for to get on the scoresheet really.”

The win pushes Brookwood to 3-1 on the season, having won their last three games since losing the season opener to Atkins County. This was the Bulldogs’ third loss of the season and puts an end to their six game win streak. Thomasville is now 7-3.
