Georgia Signs Two Golfers in 2025 Class

The University of Georgia men's golf team has signed two players to its 2025 class – JD Culbreth and Will Guthrie – head coach Chris Haack has announced.

"We are very excited about both of our signees, JD and Will," Coach Haack said. "Not only are they very talented golfers, but equally important they will be great teammates."

JD Culbreth- Thomasville, Ga.  
Culbreth attends Brookwoood School in Thomasville, Georgia and is set to graduate this spring.  He is a member of the Louise Jeanes Hines Chapter of the National Honor Society at Brookwood School, has made the Headmaster's List ninth through eleventh grade and part of the Tip of the Spear Athletic Counsel.  He is ranked 11th on the Junior Golf Scoreboard.  In 2022, JD was the overall boys champion in three SJGT tournaments and finished fourth, second , and seventh in the last three Georgia Amateur Championships. He has six top ten finishes in invitational tournaments under his belt, including a win at the 2023 Sea Pines Junior Heritage, a third place finish at the 2023 Jones Cup Junior Invitational, and fourth place finishes in the 2023 Bobby Chapman and 2024 Wyndham Invitational.  As a member of the Brookwood School golf team, he has won three GIAA AAA state championships and in the 2024 state tournament he was the low medalist shooting 64, 8 under par.  

Will Guthrie- Charlotte, N.C.
Guthrie will graduate from Charlotte Catholic High School in the spring where is a member of the National Honor Society and holds a 4.07 grade point average.  He has numerous top five finishes, including third at the 2024 Granny Invitational, second at the 2024 Sea Pines Jr Heritage, third at the 2023 Gator Invitational, and fourth at the 2023 Carolina's Jr.  He was a medalist after shooting a 7-under 65 at the 2023 NC Junior MatchPlay and finished top 10 at the 2024 North South Jr.  Guthrie won a North Carolina High School Team State Championship as a Freshman.  He won the George Holliday Tournament shooting 9-under overall and had a bogey free 65 (-7) in the NC junior with his high school golf teammate on the bag. Will is the grandson of former Georgia basketball head coach John Guthrie.
